Road collapse causes wreck, road closure

A Troy man was injured Wednesday afternoon when he came across a collapsed culvert while driving on County Road 4430.
James Powell, 50, had gone out to the Brundidge area Wednesday for his routine pest control spraying for Meeks Termite and Pest Control and suddenly found a portion of the road collapsed without warning, according to Greg Meeks, owner of the business.
Meeks said Powell was transported to Troy Regional Medical Center and was released after MRI results came back with good results. Powell was still recovering though Wednesday night and was unavailable for comment.
A culvert under the road collapsed about 1.5 miles east of the railroad tracks, shutting the road down.
County Engineer Russell Oliver was not immediately available for comment on the road closure.
