The Pike County Bulldogs returned from the holiday break with a 48-40 win over Daleville. The win for the Bulldogs is their third on the season.
“I thought we played pretty good tonight,” said head coach Doug Holland. “We were up 22 at one point tonight and kind of faltered at the end plagued by turnovers. Overall I was pleased with the win tonight.
Kevon Harris led the way for the Bulldogs with 14 points while Andres Burney hauled in 11.
The Bulldogs, who have gotten off to slow starts this season, held Daleville to just two points in the opening quarter on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs got nine points from four different players and took a 9-2 lead into the second quarter.
Daleville bounced back in the second quarter and outscored Pike County 14-11 in the second quarter. The Bulldogs held a 20-16 lead heading into the locker room at half time.
Harris and Elisha Green combined to score 13 third-quarter points increasing the Bulldogs lead to 39-17 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Daleville made a valiant effort to come back by scoring 18 points, but it wasn’t enough to catch the Bulldogs. Xavier Newson, Jaidyn Wilson and Green all had six points, while Jahzarian Lampley had three points and Markis Harris had two.
The Bulldogs will play G.W. Long this afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.
“We are just looking to catapult off this win heading into area play,” Holland said.
