Troy Bank and Trust donated to the local chapter of Reach Out and Read – Alabama.

Monies donated to this program are used to help provide brand new books to Alabama’s youngest and neediest children. Since 1996, over 300 medical providers in 67 practices and clinics have prescribed more than 1.6 million new books to children.

According to 2015 Alabama Kids Count data, 34% of children under the age of 5 live in single-parent families and almost 27% live in poverty. Programs such as Reach Out and Read – Alabama are vital in providing resources to these struggling families. Reach Out and Read – Alabama is sometimes one of the few chances for these children and their families to have access to books, starting at birth.
