It’s January, so that means it’s time to dust off the dancing shoes and plan on joining the Troy Junior Women’s League at their yearly fundraiser this Saturday.
The fourth annual Winter Gala benefiting the TJWL will be held Saturday, January 20th at the Troy University Trojan Center beginning at 7:00.
“The Winter Gala is our only fundraiser,” said Abby Peters, TJWL President. “We depend on the support of the community and our local businesses to make it a success, and every penny we raise at this event will go toward funding the Kristen Ricks Memorial Scholarships we will award in May.”
TJWL is a non-profit organization comprised of young women from Troy who are dedicated to enhancing the community through service and education. Each year TJWL holds this fund raiser to support a wide array of community groups and organizations that benefit those in the Troy area.
The organization has provided not just monetary donations, but also hundreds of volunteer hours to a number of worthy causes. Some of the charities and organizations TJWL supports include the Child Advocacy Center, Relay for Life, the American Heart Association, the Troy Miracle League, the Troy Public Library, and Save-A-Life.
“The Winter Gala is open to the public, and we will be selling a limited number of tickets at the door that night,” said April Johnson, Gala Co-Chair. “The Park Band will be there, heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and we have a great Silent Auction lined up again this year.”
Tickets are still available to purchase for $40 each, and there are still tables available for $400. Purchasing a table guarantees preferred seating at the event and recognition as one of the TJWL’s generous sponsors. Tickets may be reserved by calling (334) 268-0863.
“We can’t thank our sponsors enough, their support means we can give more back to the community and award several scholarships at the end of the school year to deserving young ladies graduating from our local schools,” said Megan Henderson, Gala Co-Chair. “It’s for a good cause, but it’s also a lot of fun.”
