Lady Eagles fall to Lions bringing season to a close

The Goshen Lady Eagles fell to the Central Hayneville Lions 63-42 in the opening round of the Class 2A Area 6 Tournament on Tuesday evening in Calhoun.
The loss for the Eagles brings their season to a close after winning just one area game.
The Eagles entered the tournament as a four seed and needed to make it to the championship game to ensure a spot in the regional tournament.
The Lions outscored the Eagles in all four quarters of the contest including in the fourth when they put the game out of reach after outscoring the Eagles 21-12.
Bree Griffin led the Eagles in scoring with 20 points in the loss. Jada Hall also scored in double figures with 10 points. JaMecia Berry added seven, while Amber Desandro had three points and Ella Baker had one.
After the Eagles went into the locker room at halftime trailing 27-17, they had their best quarter of the game in the third when they scored 13 points. Hall scored eight points in the third quarter while Griffin had three.
The Eagles finished the regular season with a 7-6 record.
