Patriots and Bulldogs pick up wins

The Pike Patriots bashed the Emmanuel Christian Warriors 15-0 in four innings on in the first game of a double header for the Patriots on Thursday night. The Patriots played Marianna to close out the evening.
The win for the Patriots improved their record on the season to 8-0.
Wood Jinright got the start on the mound for the Patriots. The senior pitched all four innings for the Patriots in the win. He allowed just two hits and struck out five batters.
The Patriots finished with nine hits led by Cody Hollis, Cole McWhorter and Jade Sikes who finished with two hits a piece.
Nathan Renfroe, Cody Allen and Drew Nelson each finished with a hit.
Wood Jinright got out of the first inning unscathed after hitting a batter with one out in the inning.
In the bottom of the first the Patriots struck first when they scored three runs to get the early lead. After leading off the inning with a walk, Allen came around to score on a wild pitch for the game’s first run. After missing the first seven games of the season, Reed Jinright made his season debut on Thursday and drove in Holllis with a sacrifice fly to right field putting up the Patriots up 2-0. McWhorter had the RBI hit in the inning when he doubled high off the wall in left to score Wood Jinright to put the Patriots up 3-0.
The Patriots broke the game wide open in the third inning when they scored eight runs on just three hits. The Warriors walked two batters and hit another two. The Warriors committed two errors in the third.
Sikes had the big hit in the inning when he hit a two-run single to score both Wood Jinright and McWhorter to make it 5-0. He later came around to score on a wild pitch. Trevor Barron scored on a wild pitch and Renfroe singled in both Holt Steed and Allen making it 9-0 in favor of the Patriots. Hollis and Nelson scored the two final runs in the third when Reed Jinright reached on an error.
Allen hit a two-run double scoring Sikes and Clay Barron and Nelson singled in Steed and Allen to score the final runs of the game for the Patriots.
The Patriots stormed back to defeat Marianna 5-4 in the night cap on Thursday night. The Patriots found themselves down 3-0 in the fifth inning and 3-2 in top of the seventh.
The Patriots will be back in action this afternoon when they take part in the Macon East Tournament.
PCHS 8 Daleville 2
After losing for the first time of the season on Tuesday against Highland Home, the Pike County Bulldogs righted the ship with an 8-2 win over Daleville on Thursday night in Brundidge.
The win for the Bulldogs improves Pike County’s record to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in area play.
Qua Walker got the start for the Bulldogs and pitched all seven innings to earn himself the win. He allowed two runs and just three hits in the win. He struck out seven batters.
Mathew Morrow finished with three hits including an RBI triple in the first inning.
The big inning occurred in the fourth when the Bulldogs scored three runs on on just one hit by Morrow.
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday when the travel to take on Geneva County.
