Patriots heading to Macon East finals

The Pike Patriot baseball and softball teams were busy playing in the Macon East Tournament on Friday.
The Patriot boys began their day on a high note with a 6-3 win over Lowndes to improve to 16-2 on the year.
Javon Christian got the start for the Patriots in the win over Lowndes. Christian pitched six innings and allowed just two runs on one hit while striking out six batters.
The Patriots finished with nine hits led by Cody Hollis who went 3-4 with one RBI. Davis Allen went 2-4 with two RBIs. The Patriots also had hits by Reed Jinright, Wood Jinright, Jade Sikes and Trevor Barron. Reed Jinright, Wood Jinright and Cason Murphree all picked up one RBI.
The Lady Patriots also took on Lowndes Academy. They held on to beat Rebels 6-2.
Dannah Dawson got the start for the Patriots and pitched all five innings. She allowed just one earned run and four hits, while striking out four.
Morgan Bundy and Ashelyn Atwell each finished the game 2-2. Bundy had one RBI and run scored, while Atwell came around to score twice. The Patriots also had hits by Ally Rushing, Katelyn Dendy, Grace Rushing, Maggie Phelps, Dawson and Sara Elizabeth Calhoun.
Both teams were in action Friday night when they took on Macon East. The Patriots boys came away with a 12-8 win. Reed Jinright picked up the win on the mound while Clay Barron picked up the save.
The Lady Patriots fell to Macon East 9-1.
The win for the Patriots secures them a spot in the championship game this evening at 7 p.m.
