The Brundidge Historical Society will present “Three on a String” in concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 13 at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge.
Tickets are $25 and will include the pre-show, the award-winning trio of four and a barbecue supper.
Lawrence Bowden, BHS president, said “Three on a String” will be back by popular demand and for one night only.
“We are excited to have this group back at the We Piddle Around Theater,” Bowden said. “They were our featured performers at our Chili Country Christmas two years ago and people have been asking us to have them back. Their performance is a perfect balance between down-home music and homespun humor.
‘If you have been fortunate to see Three on a String on stage, you’ll want to see them again. If you haven’t, you won’t want to miss them.”
Bowden said the “trio” of Jerry Ryan, Bobby Horton, Brad Ryan and Andy Meginniss is the most entertaining bunch of musicians, singers and humorists that you’ll ever see on stage.
“They are outstanding musicians and wonderful singers and they are funny men,” he said. “Their show is a variety show with music and stories and antics that will make you laugh until your cheeks hurt,” Bowden said. “The We Piddle Around Theater is known for its folklife play and its storytelling events. Three on a String fits perfectly with the BHS’ mission to preserve and promote the physical and cultural heritage of the rural South.”
Bowden said the music and songs of Three on a String are “seeded in the South.”
“You might hear folk songs, country songs, gospel music, bluegrass music and you might hear a pop tune or a Broadway favorite strung in,” Bowden said. “Three on a String might take you back to your high school days, to a revival service at a country church or a patriotic rally on the town square. But, wherever they take you it will be a fun ride.”
Three on a String once turned down an opportunity for fame and fortune as performers at Branson, Missouri. They opted to say home in Alabama and they have never regretted that decision.
“And, we are proud they stayed and proud to have them at our hometown theater,” Bowden said. “We are looking forward to a night of great music and lots of laughter.”
Tickets for Three on a String on April 13 at the We Piddle Around Theater are available by calling 334-344-9427, 334-685-5524 or 670-6302.
