Officers seeking suspect in armed robbery of Dollar General

Friday night, an armed man wearing all black including a black bandana to cover his face walked into a local Dollar General demanding money and walked out with $500 to $800 according to authorities.
“He followed an employee into the store at approximately 9:50, just before closing time, and went behind the counter and ordered another employee to open the register,” said Bob Williamson, investigator. “That employee was new though and couldn’t open the register, so the suspect went into the office to get a key before another employee opened the register and the suspect took all the cash out of the drawers.”
Williamson said the suspect appears to be a black male dressed entirely in black except for khaki-colored pants. Officials were still working to get a hard copy of surveillance footage showing the perpetrator Monday.
Williamson said no vehicle could be seen from the video. “He either walked or parked away from the store,” Williamson said. “He walked in from the north and he left the same way he came from.”
The suspect will be charged with first-degree robbery, a Class A Felony, upon arrest. Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Department at 334-566-4347.
