The Troy softball team (17-10) will continue its road stretch with a non-conference doubleheader against the 14th-ranked Florida State Seminoles (21-6) on Wednesday, March 21 at the Seminole Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. CT.
The Trojans look to continue their offensive production led by sophomores Logan Calhoun and Katie Webb. In their split doubleheader against Southern Miss and the 2-1 series win over ULM, the Trojans posted 51 total hits, nine doubles, six home runs and 31 RBI. Calhoun led the efforts going 9-for-19 with six runs, six RBI, one double and her second home run of the season. She finished the weekend hitting .474 and extended her reached-base streak to 15 games.
Freshman Annie Willis and junior Peyton Glover have combined for 100 strikeouts and are a combined 13-4 on the year. Willis threw her second complete game shutout in Troy’s 2-0 win against ULM. Glover has earned three saves so far this season, tying her for first in the conference.
The Seminoles enter the matchup riding a nine game winning streak and are coming off a series sweep against Virginia Tech. With the series sweep, FSU extends its ACC winning streak to 29 games. Freshman Sydney Sherrill leads the Noles batting .407 with 33 hits and 10 doubles. In the circle, redshirt senior Kylee Hanson has had an outstanding season with an 11-3 record and a 0.78 ERA through 80.2 innings of work.
