There’s still time to join ‘Team Up to Clean Up’

As March comes to a close, there is still one month to join the “Team Up to Clean Up” campaign in Troy.

“Team Up engages local-residents to come together for the betterment of our community,” said Melissa Sanders with Keep Troy Beautiful. “Vibrant communities aren’t just aesthetically pleasing, they’re places with engaged citizens, more active local economies, higher property values, healthier environments, and improved public safety. They’re better places to raise a family, start a business, or go to school. They’re better places for living our lives.”

The campaign is a part of Keep America Beautiful Great American Clean-up. The theme for this year is #cleanYOURblock, which encourages individuals to start making small changes that will lead to a greater impact.

“The main reason Keep Troy Beautiful has clean-up efforts and programs is that litter invites more litter,” Sanders said. “Once litter has accumulated along a road or in a city, people are more likely to keep littering. These efforts and programs help educate the participants of the programs, show others we care about our city, and hopefully sends a message to stop littering.”

To be a part of this campaign all you have to do is select an area, a date, register, and then recruit as many friends and family to help you out! You can find registration forms at www.troyal.gov/tutcu or by contacting Keep Troy Beautiful officials at ktb@troyal.gov or 334-670-6025.
