Dr. Charles Anthony “Chuck” Wood, 47, of Troy went to his reward on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Green Hills Funeral Home in Troy, Ala. with Sister Pam Edwards and Brother Dusty Taylor officiating. The family will not receive friends prior to the 11:00 a.m. service.
Born on November 25, 1970, Dr. Wood, affectionately known as Chuck, is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Heather Wood; his children: Hilly James, Cope, Jaylee, and Claire; mother, Mardi Medley; sisters, Kathy Barr and Peyton Medley; and his father and mother-in-law, Nick and Alisa Dawkins. Gone before him is his father, Tony Wood, his step father, Robert Medley, and his grandparents. Chuck also leaves behind his extended family, the Troy medical community.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Seaborn, Matt Horne, Blake Messick, Earl Ketchum, Mack Williams, and Jim Fenn.
Chuck was a graduate of Troy State University and The University of South Alabama College of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1998. Practicing medicine for over 20 years, he served the community as a well-respected, kind, caring physician treating thousands of patients and earning the respect of colleagues. Chuck was also an avid Auburn fan and sports memorabilia collector who enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.
Chuck was a loving, devoted husband to his wife, Heather. He was Heather’s confidant, her source of comfort, love, joy and companionship. They enjoyed traveling around the world together, parenting their children who he adored, and renovating their historical farmhouse. Chuck brought love and adventure into the lives of his family and leaves them with this legacy, many beautiful memories, and the blessed assurance that this separation is only temporary.
