James W. Thompson, a resident of Springhill, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence. He was 84. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home directing.
Visitation was held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Skeen Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends Friday at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service.
He was born December 22, 1933 to the late James David Thompson and Ida Mae Taylor Thompson. James was a member of the Troy University Police Department for 20 years. He also proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and will be honored with a full Military Honors.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Thompson, Springhill, AL; daughters, Teresa Railey (Craig), Montgomery, Pamela Thompson, Moultry, GA, and Angie Moore, Montgomery; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, John Thompson, Troy; sister, Jo Adcock (Tony), Troy; sisters-in-law, Margaret Johnson and Nora Copeland both of Wilkinstown, AL and Betty Thompson, Savannah, GA and several nieces and nephews.
