American Legion to host annual Memorial Day ceremony

American Legion Post 70 and Auxiliary Unit 70 in Troy will host a Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 28 at Bicentennial Park.
The guest speaker for the patriotic ceremony will be Martha Roby U.S. Representative for Alabama’s congressional district.
Otis Stone, Post chaplain, said Post 70, is Marta Roby is a strong and dedicated supporter of America’s veterans and honors those who have died in service to their country.
“We are honored to have Rep. Roby speak. We know what she says will honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Stone said.
Patriotic music will be presented by the Williams family from Banks.
The Memorial Day service will include the placing of the Memorial Wreath that gives honor to those who gave their lives to protect and preserve the freedoms that, we, as Americans enjoy, Stone said.
Names will be added to the plaque honoring Pike County deceased veterans and flags
will also be posted in remembrance of veterans.
“We will have a time of silence in order to remember veterans who died during a time of conflict,” Stone said. “The playing of “Taps” will honor all deceased veterans.”
