The Troy Ozone team dropped to the loser’s bracket of the Alabama Ozone State Baseball Tournament when they fell to Alexandria 2-0 in Greenville on Friday night.
The loss for Troy puts them in a must-win situation tomorrow morning.
“We played a really good team,” said head coach Josh Prestwood. “They scored 18 runs yesterday (Thursday). They hit the ball well.”
It didn’t take much for Alexandria to put away Troy on Friday. Both runs came in the opening of the contest. With two two runners on base, Alexandria hit a ball just out of the reach of the Troy outfield to drive in two runs.
Parker Adams got the start for Troy. Other than the two runs in the first inning, Adams are nearly flawless. In his outing, Adams allowed just three hits.
Troy’s offense couldn’t muster much more against Alexandria’s big left hander.
“The first kid that pitched was a big left hander,” said head coach Josh Prestwood. “He had an off speed pitch and a pretty good fastball. He hit the outside corner really well. We had some chances early in the first two or three innings. We hit a couple hard balls again to center field. We just couldn’t get anything going.”
Troy will be back in action beginning at 10 a.m. against Moulton.
“I told them not many teams make it through state without a loss,” Prestwood said. “They can hang their heads and go home tomorrow or they can stay in it. We burned Parker, so he is not eligible to throw again until Monday.”
