Mrs. Charlotte Mills of Eufaula passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, after a short but graceful battle with cancer.
“Lotta,” as she was affectionately known to so many, was born December 21, 1940, in Troy and was the only child of Ray and Bertha Motes. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, all of Troy, and her second husband Don Mann of Eufaula. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, John “Skinny” Mills of Eufaula; her first husband and father of their three sons, Dr. Ken Yohn of Montgomery; her three sons and their wives and their children: Mark and Lisa Yohn of Auburn and their children, Mary Melissa Taddeo (Peter) of Nashville and Andy Yohn of Auburn; Dave and Nicole Yohn and their sons Jack Yohn and Jake Yohn of Montgomery; and Chris Yohn of Auburn and his son Chase Yohn of Honolulu, Hawaii, and her step-daughter, Sandra Mills of Dothan.
“Lotta” was raised in Troy and attended Troy High School and then graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham after she and her husband moved to Birmingham to pursue his education in the late ‘50s.
After traveling for four years with the Navy, the Yohns moved to Eufaula in 1967 to set up Dr. Yohn’s practice. “Lotta” was active in First Baptist Church in Eufaula for many years leading the WMU, teaching the 10th grade girls Sunday School class and later the Young Marrieds class. She touched countless lives with her sweet spirit, by sharing her life experiences and by exemplifying the love of Christ to everyone she knew. She was a strong supporter of her sons and grandchildren. She could be seen watching baseball, basketball and football practices and games, dance recitals, band concerts and scouting functions. She loved raising her boys and spending time with her grandkids. She was past President of the Camellia Garden Club of Eufaula. Lotta volunteered for and served as President of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Med Center Barbour for over 25 years.
“Lotta” will be truly missed by her family, her church family and her many, many friends who loved her so dearly.
