Mr. Earl D. Griffin, 87, a resident of Ozark, died Sunday morning, July 29, 2018, in Flowers Hospital.
Funeral services will be graveside 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Pond Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Baker Hill, Alabama. Interment will follow with Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ozark Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Griffin was born January 30, 1931 in Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Dan Gordon Griffin and Tera E. Trammell Griffin. Mr. Griffin served in the United States Army. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Troy State Teachers College and was the oldest living Troy football player at the time of his death. Mr. Griffin worked in the banking Industry for over 50 years. He also served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gordon Griffin, and two sisters, Betty Sue Griffin and Myrtis Maddux.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane Browder Griffin of Ozark; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Hilboldt of Ozark; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Dana Griffin of Ozark, Matthew and Joanne Griffin of Deatsville, and Mike and Michele Griffin of Birmingham; one sister, Mildred Ingram of Dothan; and five grandchildren, Nolen Griffin, Ryan Griffin, Jeremy Griffin, Kristina Griffin and Connor Griffin.
