Mrs. Dilla Wakefield Lyon, 100, died Monday, August 20, 2018, at her daughter’s residence in Raleigh, North Carolina. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11a.m. at the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Visitation will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. Graveside services will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Ann Lyon-Mitchell (Ronald) of Raleigh; grandchild, Geoffrey Mitchell (Ann) of Morristown, New Jersey; great grandchild, Leah Mitchell of Morristown, New Jersey; nieces and nephews, Henry Lyon (Sara Jane) of Montgomery, Bill Schoel (Bev) of Birmingham, Phillip Chaput (Estelle) of Lowell, Massacusets, and Terri Levine (Steven) of Cary, North Carolina; and several great-nieces, great-nephews and other family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Frank W. Lyon, and her son, Frank W. Lyon Jr.

Before moving to Raleigh, Dilla Lyon lived with her daughter in Acton and Wesford, Massachusets. Dilla and her husband served several churches in Dillon, South Carolina, Brundidge, Tuscaloosa, Pineapple, Clio, and Troy. Mrs. Lyon graduated from St. Petersburg High School and Florida State University. For 20 years she taught math at Dixie Academy and in her retirement she spent a year teaching math in American Samoa. During her years in Raleigh, she taught Sunday School at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was a member of Northridge Home and Garden Club and Sertoma Park Artists Association.
