Trojans fall to Beauregard on homecoming

Beauregard High School broke away from an 8-8 tie early in the first half and never looked back en route to a 41-26 win over Charles Henderson High Friday evening in a Class 5A, Region 2 matchup.
The Trojans fell to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in region play, while Beauregard improved to 2-3 and 1-1 in the region.
Hornets’ quarterback Quatavious Seroyer found Brady McCoy for a 15-yard touchdown on their first possession, and Beauregard added the two-point conversion on a reception by Jalen McDonald, for the early 8-0 lead.
CHHS tied the score at 8-8 on their Homecoming night on a 39-yard pass play from D.Q. Toney to Chance Pollard, Pollard added a two-point conversion on a run, to tie the score with 1:37 in the first quarter.
Seroyer ran it in from two yards out for a 14-8 lead, and the senior found McCoy again for another TD strike from nine yards out with 1:08 to play in the first half for a 22-8 lead.
Toney threw a touchdown pass to Sean McKinney in the third quarter to cut the margin to 22-15, but the Hornets responded with a TD pass from Jacarious McKissic to Gage Watts for a 28-15 lead with 7:00 to go in the third quarter.
Seroyer completed a 12-yard TD pass to McKissic with 7:23 to go in the game for a 34-18 lead, and Ashton Moss rambled in from three yards out for a 41-18 lead with 4:21 to go in the contest.
The Trojans got on the board in the final minutes when Pooka Jones connected with Jackson Giles for a 6-yard TD pass play, and Jones found McKinney for the two-point conversion for the 41-26 final.
CHHS is off this next Friday and will travel to Greenville on Oct. 5 to take on the Tigers.
