Carolyn Ryder

Carolyn Ryder, a long-time resident of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Green Valley, Arizona, passed away September 18, 2018, in Tucson, Arizona. She was 88 years old at the time of her death.

Carolyn was born in Pike County, Alabama. She then moved to many different parts of the United States and finally settled in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she married Del W. Ryder. Carolyn was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was inducted into the Nebraska Golf Association’s Hall of Fame and served as the executive secretary and president of the Nebraska Women’s Golf Association. She then moved to Green Valley, Arizona, where she still enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

Carolyn is survived by three sisters, Virginia Olson, Sharon Hinson, and Patricia Neal; Son, Allen Kappler Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivo and Bertha Austin; husband, Del Ryder; sisters, Jean Botts, Emma Jewel Bass and Julia Allen; and brothers, James Gilbert Austin and Hubert Austin.
