Mr. George C. Griffin of Troy passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy. Burial will follow in Griffin Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family will also receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until service time.
Mr. Griffin was born September 15, 1939 in Pike County to the late Norton E. Griffin and Betty J. Rotenberry Griffin. He served in the U.S. Army and retired as an engineer for the State of Aalabama Road Department. He was loved by everyone and was a willing helper to all. He loved woodworking, working on his boat, fishing, racing, ballgames, westerns and he was a real comedian. He also loved taking care of his chickens and Fred and Little Fred. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Allen and a niece, Dianne Arnett. He is survived by his son, Sam Griffin, Troy; daughters, Dana Jones (Steve), Sylacauga, and Mae Senn, Troy; grandchildren, Cortney Norris (Joe), Banks, Trent Jones, Sylacauga, Cory Senn (Amira), Troy and Diana Senn (Frank), Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Lucas Norris, Banks, Dalton Senn, Dyllan Cole and Gunner Cole all of Rutledge; brothers, William “Butch” Griffin (Cooki Sleight), Troy and Lester “Buster” Griffin, Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
