Closed railroad crossings cause traffic delays

Cars lined South Brundidge Street Tuesday afternoon from the Elm Street intersection all the way back to nearly CGI as motorists were detoured due to several closed railroad crossings.
Melissa Sanders, planning administrator, said these crossings will remain closed until at least Friday morning.
“Motorists are asked to use alternate routes to avoid this area for the duration of this project,” Sanders said. “There is currently no access across the railroad on these streets at this time. These closures are affecting traffic patterns which are causing traffic delays, especially along S. Brundidge Street towards downtown. Please use alternate routes coming to and from downtown Troy. Please avoid S. Brundidge Street and use alternate routes for school traffic.”
The following streets are currently closed to through traffic due to CSX railroad crossing maintenance:
- College Street (200 Block)
- Charles W. Meeks Avenue
- Academy Street (200 & 300 Block)
- Walnut Street (300 Block)
- Church Street (200 & 300 Block)
- Love Street (300 Block)
- Youngblood Street (200 and 300 Block)
