Charles Henderson senior Maori Davenport’s long-awaited announcement of where she attend college is quickly approaching.
It was announced on social media late last week that the Miss Basketball candidate will verbally commit on Saturday.
Davenport has dwindled down her list of potential schools to four. Rutgers, Mississippi State, Louisville and Georgia are all waiting with anticipation to see if they will land a player that is currently ranked as the 15th best recruit in the 2019 class by ESPN as a five-star recruit.
Davenport finished last season scoring around 18 points per game with 12 rebounds, 5.4 blocked shots and making 67 percent of her shots.
Davenport led the Trojans to their first ever state championship a season ago when they knocked off Central-Tuscaloosa 55-37. Davenport led all scorers with 17 points and had 13 rebounds.
It was the second consecutive year that Davenport and the Trojans advanced to the championship. In 2016, Davenport set a record when she blocked 19 shots. She finished the game with 25 rebounds and finished with a triple-double.
