Lady Trojans win opening round of PCB Classic

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans won the opener of the PCB Classic on Thursday when they knocked off Bay County 78-35.
The win for the Trojans improves their record on the season to 12-6.
Senior Niaira Jones led the way for the Lady Trojans with 26 points, while Samira Moore finished with 17. Tatyana Siler and Kayla Grant each had eight points and Makala Hobdy had five.
The Trojans defense allowed 16 first-quarter points and went into the second leading by three at 19-16. Jones scored her first 10 points in the opening quarter.
After allowing 16 first-quarter points, the Trojans held Bay County’s offense to just 19 points over the final three quarters.
Jones scored eight more points in the second quarter and went into the locker room at halftime holding a 35-21 lead.
Moore got into the act in the third quarter. The junior scored nine points in the quarter and the Lady Trojans stormed into the fourth and final quarter leading 56-25.
Grant scored six of her points in the fourth quarter, helping the Trojans secure their 43-point win.
The Trojans will be back in action on day two of the PCB Classic when they take on Marshall County on Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. They will finish the classic on Saturday when they take on Mosley at 8:45 a.m.
