Bulldogs down Providence Christian

It was a night of double-doubles in Pike County’s 55-32 win over Providence Christian in the area opener on Friday night.
The win gives the Bulldogs a 1-0 record in area play.
Andres Burney led the way for the Bulldogs with 25 points, 14 rebounds and two blocked shots. Senior Jaidyn Wilson also had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kevon Harris was the final Bulldog with a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.
The Bulldogs scored 14 points in the opening quarter, 13 of which went to Burney. Burney knocked down three three-pointers and the Bulldogs went into the second leading 14-10.
The second quarter was more of a defensive quarter. Both teams combined to score just 10 points and the Bulldogs went into halftime holding a 20-14 lead.
Burney led the Bulldogs out of the break with 10 more points. Including Harris’ seven points, the Bulldogs outscored Providence Christian 19-10 in the third quarter.
The Bulldogs went into the final quarter enjoying a 39-24 lead.
They added 16 more points in the final quarter on their way to a comfortable 23-point win.
The Bulldogs will be back in action today when they travel to take on Notasluga.
