Lindsey announces hire of Ray Brown

Troy head coach Chip Lindsey rounded out his coaching staff on Thursday morning when he announced the hiring of Ray Brown. Brown will coach on the defensive side of the ball in 2019. Lindsey will announce the specific roles of his coaches at a later date.
Brown comes to Troy after spending the last three seasons as Abilene Christian’s defensive backs coach.
“Ray will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our program and is a great addition to our strong defensive staff,” Lindsey said. “He is a respected recruiter across many parts of the country including Florida and Mississippi. Ray has a strong background coaching and developing high-level defensive players, and we’re excited to welcome Ray and his family to Troy.”
Ray and Abilene Christian finished in the top 30 nationally in 2018 with 13 interceptions. They finished six nationally in fourth-down defense (26.3 percent). They were also 15th nationally in third-down defense (30.3 percent) and 16th nationally in rushing defense at 113 yards per game.

Brown began is Division I career as a graduate assistant at Washington State.
Brown was a four-year starter at cornerback at East Central.
