The Lady Trojans of Charles Henderson High continued their dominant ways with a 59-24 win over Carroll of Ozark Thursday night in Betty Wagoner Hall on the campus of CHHS, to seal the Class 5A, Area 3 championship.
With the win Thursday evening, the Lady Trojans improve to 24-6 on the year and will advance to the Sub-regional tournament to be played Monday night. Ranked No. 2 in the state in Class 5A, CHHS will play Valley High School, who fell to Brewbaker Tech Thursday night and finished runner-up in Area 4.
“I’m never content on anything. I never underestimate any team,” said CHHS Head Coach Dyneshia Jones. “Even in practice, we prepare for anything, any possibility. In the game, we may switch up and run different types of defenses but I am also trying to prepare our girls for different types of offenses. It may look bad when we beat a team really bad, but I’m just getting them prepared for what is down the road. I don’t like thinking way ahead of time, but I’m trying to prepare them, for the teams up ahead.”
The Lady Trojans led 12-3 after the first quarter, 33-6 at halftime and 55-12 after three quarters before finishing off the game 59-24.
Tuti Jones led CHHS with 15 points, Maori Davenport 14, Tatyana Siler had 11, Samira Moore nine, Mykyia Milton five, Kristan Jackson three and Makayla Hobdy two points.
