Brundidge man struck, killed by vehicle

A Brundidge man was killed Monday when he was struck by a vehicle in Dale County.
The victim, Johnny Frank Downing, 51, was critically injured when he was struck by a 2004 Toyota Camry driven by Amanda Peeterse, 19, of Ozark,
The crashed occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 231 14 miles north of Ozark.
Downing was involved in a separate wreck moments before when a 1970 Chevrolet truck driven by Tommy Downing, 67, became disabled on the roadway and was struck by a 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by Taylor Hudson, 24, of Brundidge.
Johnny Downing had stepped out of the vehicle when he was struck by the Camry, which then left the roadway and caught fire
All other occupants were transported to Dale Medical Center for minor injuries.
