A Troy man took police on a brief car chase before being arrested Thursday on felony robbery charges.
Police spotted suspect Jashaun Cordell Lawrence when he was driving a blue Camry in the area of Elm and Academy streets. “Officers attempted to stop Lawrence, but he refused to stop for several blocks,” said Police Chief Randall Barr. “Lawrence finally stopped in the 500 block of Johnnie Mae Warren Avenue and he was taken into custody.”
Lawrence is a suspect in a March 10 robbery that took place in the 600 block of Wiley Street. “According to the report, Lawrence approached the victim, produced a handgun, and demanded money,” Barr said. “The victim was not injured.”
Lawrence was charged with robbery first degree, which is a class A felony. He was being held in the Pike County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
