Trojans claim area title with sweep of Carroll

The Charles Henderson Trojans wrapped up the area championship on Wednesday with a pair of wins over Carroll.
The Trojans scored just one run in game one, but it was enough to propel them to a 1-0 win. The Trojans clinched the title with a 9-3 win in game two.
Walker Stallworth pitched into the seventh inning in game one. He held the Eagles to four runs, while walking four batters. He struck out three. Jackson Giles came in to get the final two outs and left the tying run on the base paths.
Stallworth finished 2-3 at the plate, while Chance Pollard, Lawson Scarbrough, Cole McWhorter and Keonte Brantley all had one hit.
After three innings of scoreless baseball, the Trojans finally cracked the ice in the fourth inning. Scarbrough led off the inning with a double and came around to score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of McWhorter.
The Trojans began game two with four runs in the top of the first inning. After scoring one in the third they added three more in the fifth to pull away from Carroll.
Darryl Lee got the start for the Trojans and pitched four innings. Lee allowed one run on three hits and three walks. He struck out five batters. Keonte Brantley finished 4-4 at the plate with four RBI and a run scored. Scarbrough and Stallworth had two hits, while Pollard, McWhorter, Reeves and J.B Sanders all had one hit.
The Trojans had RBI hits by Brantley and Reeves in the opening inning. Jaylen Deveridge stole home and Pollard scored on a wild pitch.
In the fifth, the Trojans stretched their lead to 8-1 when they scored three more runs. Brantley had a two-run double and Cam Foley came around to score on a balk call.
The Trojans will close out their series with Carroll on Thursday where they will celebrate senior day.
