Troy’s chapter of PEO International will host a fashion show to serve as a fundraiser for PEO’s six philanthropies, all of which support women’s pursuit of education.
“Our attitude with the fashion show is to have fun,” said former Troy PEO president Elaine Bassett. The fashion show brings together different local businesses in Troy. Boutiques such as Glow, First Impressions, Pink Parlour, and Posh and P will provide clothing for the models, which gives them an opportunity to advertise new clothes for spring and summer. PEO makes a point to include women of all ages and sizes in the show, and some of the PEO members themselves will walk as models.
People attending the fashion show may enter at 10:00 a.m. in order to shop around at tables set up by local vendors. The event will also include door prizes, and lunch will be catered by members of PEO, featuring Sandy Garrett’s celebrated chicken salad.
Bassett applauds all the people who are helping to make the fashion show a success. “It takes a lot of time, but people are very dedicated and sincere,” Bassett said.
Bassett hopes the fashion show will encourage people to shop at the many great businesses Troy offers.
“We have a wide range of businesses in our community, not just physical stores, but people who have small businesses of their own,” Bassett said. “And the $10 from each ticket sale will do a world of good for women.”
Tickets for the fashion show are $10 and can be purchased from any PEO member and Wild Roots Salon on South Three Notch Street. Tickets available the day of may be purchased at the door.
The fashion show will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Park Memorial Methodist Church.
