Tournament time: District Tournaments begin at the Sportsplex

The District 6 Softball Tournament got under way at the Sportsplex on Friday evening.
The Troy Ponytails and Darlings both picked up wins, while the Troy Angels were battling with Crenshaw County.
It took for four innings for the Troy Ponytails to knock off Coffee County. They scored in all four innings and went on to win 16-4.
Ky Wilkerson got the start for Troy. She pitched three innings and allowed one run. She struck out six batters and struck out the side in both the first and third innings.
Alissa Barron entered the game and pitched the final inning.
Troy jumped on the board in the first inning. After Wilkerson struck out the side in the first inning, Troy sent six batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning. After Abby Sullivan walked, she came around to score on a single to left by Wilkerson.
After Coffee County briefly evened the score at 1 in the bottom of the first, Troy tacked on five more runs in the bottom of the second to take a comfortable 5-run lead.
Tera Walker reached on an RBI single for Troy. Indi Carter scored on a wild pitch after she reached first safely driving in the third run of the game for Troy. Late in the inning Jada Jones grounded out but drove in both Kyla Griffin and Aderian Greenwood to bring the score to 6-1.
Troy sent 13 batters to the plate in the third innings and scored 10 runs. Wilkerson, Lakayla Sellers, Carter, Griffin and Jada Jones all had RBIs in the inning.
With the win, Troy advances to the winner’s bracket where they will play Crenshaw County on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Darlings: Troy 16 Greenville 1
Troy made easy work of Greenville in their opening round game on Friday evening.
The game lasted just three innings and Troy scored in all three of them, including eight runs in the opening inning. They added one run in the second and seven more in the third.
Troy finished with 15 hits in the win.
Troy advances to the winner’s bracket where they will play at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Belles: Troy 15 Eufaula 1
The Troy Belles got their tournament off to a strong start in Rehobeth on Friday evening. Stella Gilbreath pitched a one-hitter and racked up seven strikeouts. Bella Maulden picked up the close after she had one strikeout without allowing a hit.
McKenzie Cain finished 3-3 at the plate, while Alyssa Sellers and Molly Garrett were 2-3. Raleigh Carter, Dakota Berry, Stella Gilbreath, Emily Bryan and Sadie Leverette all had one hit.
Troy will be back in action on Saturday against the winner of Dothan and Wicksburg beginning at 10 a.m.
