The Ariton Purple Cats hope to turnaround an 0-2 start when they travel to take on Geneva County in the region opener this evening.
After falling to Dale County 34-27 in the season opener two weeks ago, the Purple Cats fell to Goshen a week ago in their home opener last week 21-7.
The Purple Cats entered the season hoping to take another step forward after finishing second in Region 2 last season, and advancing to the third round of the state playoffs.
The Geneva County Bulldogs enter the game with a 1-1 record and are coming off a 34-26 loss Geneva last week. They have averaged 40 points per game over the course of two games, while allowing 35 points per game.
After scoring 27 points in the season opener, the Purple Cats were held to a single touchdown in last week’s loss to Goshen.
Unofficially, the Purple Cats are 6-7 all time against their region rival. They fell to Geneva County 36-29 last season.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dixie Howell Stadium in Hartford.
