A Troy man has been arrested on charges that he twice violated the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
Joe Louis Edwards, 41, was arrested after investigators received information that he was living in Troy without registering as a sex offender.
“Edwards had also altered his Alabama drivers license by removing the ‘Criminal Sex Offender’ notification from the license,” said Troy Police Chief Randall Barr.
Edwards was charged with two counts of violating SORNA, once for living in Troy without registering and once for altering his driver’s license.
Both charges are Class C Felonies punishable by 1 to 10 years in prison. Bond was set at $2,500 on each count.
