The Goshen Eagles step outside of conference play on Friday when they travel to Harmond Field to take on the Georgiana Panthers.
The Eagles head into Friday’s game with a 4-0 record after they knocked off region foe New Brockton 42-16.
“Being able to beat one of your foes that is in your region is always good,” Goshen head coach Bart Snyder said. “To get to the halfway point 4-0 is extremely good. To be 3-0 in the region heading into the second part (of the schedule) is a huge plus.”
Although this game won’t feature a region rival, there will still be plenty to play for on Friday night.
“We have to get better,” Snyder said. “That’s why we put teams like Ariton, Georgiana and Brantley on our schedule. We feel like those are teams that are going to make us better. This is a tough ball game. Stepping out of region playing one of the top 1A schools. Playing them helps us get better.”
Georgiana is 2-3 on the season and are coming off a 61-28 loss to Brantley last week.
They are averaging 29 points per game while allowing 33 points.
The two teams met a season ago and Georgiana picked up a 30-13 win over the Eagles.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
