The Troy Trojan baseball team is currently in the early goings of fall camp at Riddle-Pace Field.
Fresh off their 31-29 record in 2019, the Trojans are in the midst of their fall schedule that includes 22 inter-squad scrimmages finishing with five turf series games in mid-November.
The highlight of the fall schedule will be a pair of games against outside competition in Alabama State and the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
“The primary goal for this fall is to learn as much as possible about each player in a competitive setting,” Troy head coach Mark Smartt told TroyTrojans.com. “The second goal is always to try and develop some level of team chemistry and commitment to the program. Now is the time to figure out how we work together.”
After welcoming in a plethora of new faces last season, the Trojans will have a familiar look this fall and heading into the 2020 season including Drew Frederic, Rigsby Mosley and Logan Cerny. The rotation will be led once again by Levi Thomas and Cory Gill.
Troy’s next inter-squad scrimmage will be today beginning at 6 p.m. at Riddle-Pace Field. They will travel to Montgomery to take on Alabama State on Friday, October 18 beginning at 5 p.m. They will take on UAH at home on Sunday, October 27 beginning at 2 p.m.
Troy’s five-game turf series will consist of five games and they will be held from November 12 through November 17.
The 2020 season will begin in February.
