Mrs. Corkins was affectionately known as “Nanny” by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and so many others who loved her. Her first love was for her Lord and Savior, and she worshipped him with her lifelong and beloved church family at Fleetwood Baptist Church. She also loved her family deeply, and devoted her life to nurturing the bond that tied together their five generations. She selflessly gave of herself to countless friends, her community, and to the caretakers at Opp Health and Rehabilitation. She lived a blessed and full life, and her loved ones wish to celebrate her earthly life and take comfort in the everlasting life of abundance that God has prepared just for her. As was promised in I Corinthians 2:9: “No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Mrs. Corkins was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Hugh Bricken Corkins; their son, Ricky Corkins; her parents, Rev. John F. and Mary Lee Sanders; and brother, James “Bud” Sanders. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Felicia and Lucky Cope and Yvette and Mike Welch; son, Hoyt B. Corkins; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Dustin) Stinson, Joe (Kathryn) Cope, Jamie Lawson, Ashley (Timothy) Rountree, Bricken Cope, Brittney Corkins, and Chelsei (Grant) Naterhoff; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Byrd and Betty (Jimmy) Baggett; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Alex Adams, Joe Cope, Bricken Cope, Wesley Hall, Timothy Rountree, Dustin Stinson, and John David West.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10 – 11 a.m.
