The deadline to enter into the Troy Christmas parade has been extended to Wednesday, November 27.
Sheila Jackson, director of Troy Public relations and Tourism, said the parade already has more than 90 entries and everyone is welcome to join in the celebration.
“It’s shaping up to be a wonderful parade as usual,” Jackson said. “We’ll have the bands from the local schools and Troy University and many businesses and organizations.”
The theme of the parade this year is “family traditions,” and floats can be designed to showcase all the Christmas traditions that stand out as an integral part of the holiday season.
The parade will proceed through Downtown Troy on Monday, December 2, and will be followed by the ceremonial tree lighting on the Square. The parade will begin at 7 p.m.
Henry Everett and friends will provide music from 4:30 p.m. to the start of the parade and will continue the celebration following the parade.
There is no entry fee to register for the parade.
Sponsors Troy Bank and Trust, Glow and the UPS Store are sponsoring this year’s contest, with the top three parade floats being awarded $300, $200 and $100 respectively.
Anyone interested in entering the parade can call 334-670-2285.
