Heavy smoke seen in Troy result of controlled burn

Residents driving through Troy Wednesday afternoon may have noticed a large plume of smoke that seemed to be coming from the area of the Troy Industrial Park.
Fire Chief Michael Stephens said the smoke was actually coming from a controlled burn near Enzor Road and that everything had been cleared with the Troy Fire Department to allow the burning to take place.
Coming into the fall, Alabama had a statewide fire alert in place that refused burn permits to most residents, but the return of rain in the past month cleared the concerns and burn permits are now available again as usual.
