Premier Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram presented a $56,700 check to the Pike Medical Foundation on Tuesday, bringing the total amount of funds raised for the foundation to more than $90,000.
The dealership set out multiple fundraising efforts to raise the money for the medical foundation, which supports Troy Regional Medical Center.
“Last October, we donated $200 per vehicle sold for breast cancer awareness month; cancer is something that touches every family in one way or another,” said Jason Gregory, Premier owner. “So we wanted to continue that, but do it bigger. This was the perfect timing for us and the hospital. Troy is a small town, but its our town. We want to make sure we have the best resources available to us. This is where we want to go to the doctor; it’s where we want to take our kids to the doctor.”
This is not the first time Premier has done a local fundraising drive – last year, the company donated $200 per car sold during a three-month period to five local elementary schools.
Premier followed the same fundraiser for the Pike Medical Foundation, donating $200 per vehicle sold in August through October, and also hosted other events to raise money.
The events included the inaugural Premier Clay Shoot, with teams paying to come out to the Gregory Farms and shoot clays. Later that night, the Gregorys hosted the Tams in concert with a dinner provided by Yanni Tempelis of Francesca’s and the Pig Café. Premier also hosted a 5K run to gather funds for the foundation.
“I think you’re the philanthropist of the year for the City of Troy, the state of Alabama and heck, even the entire United States,” said Jean Laliberte of the Pike Medical Foundation. “I cannot tell you how much we appreciate all that you’ve done. It’s made all the difference.”
