The Troy Fire Department responded to a house fire early Tuesday morning on Williams Street.
Firefighters were dispatched to a home in the 300 block of Williams Street at 4:42 a.m. to a report of a structure fire.
“Engine 1 arrived on scene approximately five minutes after receiving the call, and reported heavy smoke coming from the rear of the residence with flames also visible,” said Fire Chief Michael Stephens.
The home was occupied by a single elder adult woman and two dogs, Stephens said. The woman managed to escape the home without injury.
“Fire attack crews made entry into the home and located the two canines and were able to bring them to safety, Stephens said. “The fire was located in a rear bedroom and the fire was under control within eight minutes of the initial attack.”
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The fire remains under the investigation of the Troy Fire Marshal’s office.
