Eagles take Squadron to the buzzer, Trojans knock off Auburn

Girl’s high school basketball was in full swing on Thursday evening as Charles Henderson, Pike Liberal Arts and Goshen were all in action.
The Goshen Eagles were the only local team to play home. They took on Highland Home in Goshen. The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots were on the road to take on Lee-Scott, while the Trojans traveled to take on Auburn.

The Lady Eagles took the Flying Squadron to the wire before falling by two points. The Eagles had a chance with less than a second remaining to either tie or win the game but couldn’t get a shot away before the buzzer sounded.
Briona Burden led the Eagles with 12 points, while Ella Baker had eight and Ajayden Rogers had six.
The Eagles will be back in action on Monday when they travel to take on Andalusia.
Charles Henderson 60 Auburn 40
The Trojans outscored Auburn in the first three quarters on Thursday evening on their way to their 20-point win.
The Trojans took a 31-19 lead into the break at half time. Niaira Jones finished the first half with 12 points after making two three-pointers.
After taking a 49-26 lead into the fourth quarter, the Trojans held on to win despite being outscored 14-12 in the quarter.
Jones finished the game with 22 points. Samira Moore led the team in scoring when she finished with 23 points. Makala Hobdy finished with 13 points.
The Trojans will be back in action on Friday when they take on Andalusia.
PLAS 25 Lee-Scott 55
The Patriots fell to 4-5 on the season with their 30-point loss over the Warriors of Lee-Scott.
The Patriots trailed by as many as 30 in the second half before ultimately losing 55-25.
Shelby Renfroe led the Patriots with nine points, along with two rebounds and four assists.
Tiffany Johnson added six points with three rebounds. Morgan Bundy had five points, while Mary Michael Hussey had three.
The Patriots will be back in action on Monday when they host Abbeville Christian for their home opener inside their new look gymnasium.
