The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots knocked off Northside Methodist 84-71 on Thursday night in Dothan.
The win keeps the Patriots undefeated since the calendar flipped to 2020. The win gives the Patriots an 8-7 record on the season.
Points were not hard to come by on Thursday night as the teams combined to score 155 points.
Nick O’Brien converted two 3-pointers in the opening quarter to help allow the Patriots to take a 17-15 lead into the second quarter.
Drew Nelson scored 10 points and O’Brien converted two more 3-pointers in what was a 26-point second quarter for the Patriots. Pike Liberal Arts went into halftime holding a 43-32 lead.
Austin Cross and Jeffrey Knotts both came out in the third quarter and scored six points. Both the Patriots and Knights scored 23 third-quarter points and Pike entered the fourth quarter still holding an 11-point lead at 66-55.
The Patriots were able to clinch the win in the fourth quarter at the free throw line. The Patriots made 11 of their 14 attempts.
The Patriots had seven players score on Thursday and five of them finished in double figures. The Patriots finished with nine 3-pointers.
Drew Nelson finished with 18 points to lead the Patriots, while Nick O’Brien finished with 16. Javon Christian and Knotts both with 15 points, while Austin Cross had 13.
The Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Morgan Academy.
