Trojans pull away from Goshen in 59-30 win

It took a few minutes for the offenses to get going, but when they did the Charles Henderson Trojans pulled away and knocked off the Goshen Eagles 59-30 on Thursday night in Troy.
The win for the Trojans improves their record on the season to 16-11. With the loss, the Goshen Eagles fall to 8-9.
The first points didn’t go on the scoreboard until Keith Wheeler converted a free throw with 5:40 remaining.
Trailing 4-3, the Trojans went on a 12-0 run and took a 15-4 lead. They took a 17-6 lead into the second quarter.
A free throw by Akieves Shorts pushed the Trojans lead to 12 at 20-8 in the second quarter. The Trojans led by as many as 19 in the quarter and went into halftime leading 34-15.
Already leading by 20 at 39-19, the Trojans went on a 6-0 run and went up 45-19. They went into the fourth quarter leading 49-23.
The Trojans pushed their lead to as high as 29 points in the fourth quarter before eventually winning by the same margin.
Wheeler finished with 20 points to lead the Trojans on Thursday night. Shorts also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Tre Dix finished with seven points to lead the Eagles, while Dee Maddox finished with six and Makel Avery had five.
The Eagles will be back in action on February 4 to take on Samson in round one of the area tournament, while the Trojans will host Dale County on Friday evening.
