The Mardi Gras celebration will continue Saturday on the Square with the 2nd Annual Mardi Gras Band Party.
“Last year’s band party was a hit and we hope the same for this year’s,” said Leigh Anne Windham, coordinator for the City of Troy.
Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces will be performing live on the Square from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
“They play everything from old-school soul and fun, classic rock and roll, all the way to today’s hip-hop hits,” Windham said. ““There will be 10 tables set up for the party and each will have a king cake for our guests to enjoy. There will be lots of masks, hats, beads and moon pies as well. We will also have a photo booth and a Mardi Gras costume/outfit contest.”
Other seating will be available, Windham said, but also encouraged guest to bring their own seating.
“We love the events that the city showcases downtown,” said Lyndsay Taylor, owner of Sips on the Square. “As a business owner downtown, we’re just so grateful to the city for the months they spend preparing these events that always pay off for the businesses downtown. It’s awesome to see the families come downtown; it’s such a fun time for people of all ages, from kids to grandparents. And it equally benefits the businesses as people usually eat downtown or go into the shops open during those times.”
Sips will join B. Graves and Momma Goldbergs in providing food and drink specials during the event.
“My husband and I enjoyed the first band party last year,” said Emily Ellis. “Lots of music and people, fun for kids and everybody.”
The event is free and open to the public.
