Trojans offense held to one hit in 9-0 loss

The Charles Henderson Lady Trojans’ offense was slowed in their 9-0 loss to the Opp Bobcats on Monday evening in Troy.
Stella Gilbreath picked up the loan Trojan hit in the nine-run loss. Gilbreath’s hit came in the fourth inning, but the Trojans couldn’t capitalize and they were held off the scoreboard in a shutout loss. The Trojan offense finished with nine strikeouts in the loss.
Sadie Leverette got the start for the Trojans. Leverette pitched the first four innings. She allowed five runs, four of which were earned on 10 hits and two walks. She struck out three batters. Olivia Kirkpatrick and Gilbreath also pitched for the Trojans.
The Bobcats scored three runs in the first inning after they had four consecutive base hits.
Three errors hurt the Trojans throughout the game. Opp had their first batter reach in the fourth on an error and she eventually came around to score on a two-run home run. The Bobcats hit two home runs in the inning and went into the bottom of the fourth with a 5-0 lead.
Opp scored three more runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth to close out their scoring.
