PLAS knocks off Ezekiel

The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots gained an early advantage and held on to defeat Ezekiel Academy 9-5 on Monday night in Montgomery.

The Patriots raced out to a 4-1 lead only to surrender it two innings later when Ezekiel evened the score with three runs in the third inning. The Patriots scored five runs in the final four innings to secure the four-run win.

Aubreigh Maulden got the start for the Patriots. She earned the win after pitching all seven innings. All five runs allowed were earned runs. She allowed five hits and five walks.

Grace Rushing brought in Ally Rushing is a single in the first inning to give the Patriots their first lead.

After the Knights battled back to tie the game in their half of the first, the Patriots scored their three runs in the second to gain the lead right back. Ally Rushing hit a three-run home run to left to give the Patriots a 4-1 lead.

Tied at 4, the Patriots got a run back in the fourth on a Maulden Single to give them their second lead of the game at 5-4.

The Patriots got RBI singles by Bayli Eaton and Amity White in the fifth to increase their lead to three at 7-4.

The Patriots had a sacrifice fly by Emily Williamson in the sixth and an RBI double by Grace Rushing in the sixth to close out their scoring.

Amity White and Grace Rushing both finished the game 4-4. Grace Rushing added three RBI. Dannah Dawson and Sarah Elizabeth Calhoun both finished with two hits.

The Patriots were scheduled to take on Lakeside on Tuesday, but the Chiefs and to cancel due to double scheduling.

The Patriots are scheduled to participate in the Macon East Tournament beginning on Thursday.
