The Pike Liberal Arts Lady Patriots will be hosting the third annual Thunder Chicken Rodeo on Saturday, April 4.

The Thunder Chicken Rodeo involves a turkey hunt and competition. All proceeds will go to the Pike Liberal Arts softball team and girls athletics.

“We have done this for the last three years,” head softball coach Robert Rollan said. “Its raised a lot of money for our softball program and girls athletics. It’s one of the main reasons we have made all the improvements to the softball field.”

The event includes a turkey hunt where individuals can pair up in groups of two for $100 per person and hunt wherever they please. The school won’t provide guides or lands.

At noon, a park ranger will come and judge and see who had the winning turkey.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” Rollan said. “People love to turkey hunt. It’s an opportunity to get out and hunt with a friend. For $100 you have a chance to win some really nice prizes.”

The event will give prizes to the top three finishers of the competition.

“At 12:01 we are done,” Rollan said. “We take the top three and the first place winner wins a pair of shotguns. The second place winner takes home $300 and third place wins $200.”

This year, the event will also include a raffle and give away a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3.

Interested participants can get a registration from the school website and athletic page.
