Patriots land number one spot in latest ASWA Poll

The Alabama Sports Writers Association released what could be their final baseball rankings of the season on Thursday.

After a 14-1 start to the season, the Patriots were ranked number one in the state in AISA. The rest of the top-10 included Bessemer, Glenwood, Lakeside, Clarke Prep, Edgewood, Escambia Academy, Macon-East, Hooper and Morgan.

The Patriots entered the break on a four-game winning streak. Their only loss of the year came at the hands of Lakeside on March 10.

The Patriots have won three tournaments so far this season. They took home their own championship in the Jonah McWaters Tournament. They then won the Border Wars Tournament hosted by Glenwood and then a tournament hosted by Macon-East.

The Patriots entered the season as back-to-back state champions.
