Georgia Johnson Ziglar, age 82, a longtime resident of Troy, Alabama, passed away Friday, April 24, 2020, surrounded by loved ones. A private family graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Danny Arnold officiating.

“Oh, I’m perfect, but how are you?” that’s what Mrs. Georgia would say. She may have said it to you once from behind the counter of The Corner Store on Oak Street where she was serving-up hoop cheese and buckets of salt fish. Maybe you were there for a 99-cent grab-bag filled with curious prizes or to peruse the newly installed wicker selection, or perhaps you heard from her while shopping for a new furniture gem at The Home Gallery. She always dreamed to one day be a store owner, and with a few trips North on an untrusty truck, those dreams came to fruition. For 35 years, Mrs. Georgia was a bright light for the Troy community; a self-made businesswoman, expanding her retail businesses and generosity through downtown; and a wonderful caregiver to a lot of people in a lot of ways, always creating a happy experience for all she encountered. Mrs. Georgia offered an abundance of opportunities for people to buy beautiful things for their homes through creative financing measures and trusted handshakes. She loved her work family and customers, knowing her business would be none without their support. Beloved by most as Mrs. Georgia, she was captured by the love she had for her grandboys, who loved her best as Grandmama. She never missed the opportunity to have fun and spend quality time with them, even if it was in a deer stand. Her kind spirit will be forever unmatched, but always remembered.

Mrs. Georgia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Randolph Ziglar; daughters, Sherry Helms (David) and Shyron Ziglar; grandchildren, Adam Helms (Lacey) and Clay Helms (Bonnie); great-grandchildren, Axel Helms and Gracie Helms; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elihue and Willie Mae Johnson; brothers, Lavell Johnson and Murrell Johnson; and sister, Josephine Stone.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Encompass Hospice for their tremendous care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Bush Memorial Baptist Church (605 South George Wallace Drive, Troy, AL 36079). Friends and family can sign the guestbook online at greenhillsfuneralhome.net. The staff of Green Hills Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ziglar family.
